dreamstime_xxl_6055065For most small businesses, you hire the people you have a good feeling about. And when you come to trust them even more (or when their references check out) then you might trust them with a key to your building.

Most of the time there’s no problem. But here are three circumstance that might make you decide to call a commercial locksmith to get your business rekeyed.

If you’ve had a disgruntled employee – This is the most obvious one. If you have an employee who left under less-than-ideal circumstance, it might be time to rekey your locks. Maybe you didn’t get the business key back from them, or maybe you suspect they made duplicates. Of course if they were fired for stealing, then rekeying your locks is a no-brainer.

If you’ve had a large turnover of employees – Let’s say you have five employees in our office, and within a year you’ve replaced three of them. Even if all three of them left under excellent circumstance, that’s still a three-times greater possibility that one of the harbored a resentment (and kept a copy of the key) that you didn’t know about.

If you find out something about an employee’s partner – Sometimes a perfectly sweet and loyal employee can fall in love with someone who’s trouble. And if the partner has access to your employee’s keys, they have access to your keys. In twenty minutes they could get a key duplicated and have full access to your building.

Remember, it’s a lot harder to make a claim for loss if the insurance company can’t find any sign of forced entry. Make sure your small business is secured by having your locks rekeyed by a commercial locksmith today…Call Pop-A-Lock serving Slidell and the surrounding areas!
